Spiwizzle watcing the evolution of shrimp olympics has been an absolute JOY. I was worried at first for this album's new hi-fi texture, that it might scrub away the hazy feel that made I Love Money one of my favorite albums of all time, but it's all in-tact! This feels like one of those fan restorations of a SNES soundtrack! it's really amazing what Austin has done here! Can't say there's a bad track here! Favorite track: i'd rather be a woman than a man.

"silk lizard" is the brand new full length by psych-rocking home recordist Austin Lombardo AKA shrimp olympics. The album is a psychedelic, progressive country-rock tapestry (among other things), well balanced by its smooth vs wild moments. Layered synth pads blend with crisp acoustic guitars, jazzy drums, electric leads, and beautifully effected vocals to create an ever-evolving soup of textures, melodies, and rhythms that surprise and delight the mind. Austin has created a masterfully written bundle of songs that are incredibly catchy and original, and "silk lizard" displays him in his songwriting prime. There is something new to find and appreciate in each fresh listen and I know you are going to absolutely love this album, especially if you're a fan of Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, R. 4 peaceful jazz vignettes. Belt of Venus is aquamarine, with a slow, tidal energy as dignified as the sea. The aptly named plantwood is budding, emergent as flowers on dewy moss in the forest. Stained Glass Sauna has a smoky, mountain resonance, while the Sunken Cabin emerges slowly from dust-mote stillness to tortured but deliberating peaks. The whole thing is bursting with character.
